Lydia Prayer Ministry

Lydia Prayer Groups are clusters of women forming around the world uniting their hearts in prayer on behalf of themselves, their families, churches, communities, and the world. The name is taken from the story in Acts 16:6-15 where Paul went to the riverbank to find a place of prayer and encountered Lydia and a group of women. From there the church in Europe was birthed, and the course of history was changed.

Prayer Suggestions for Lydia Groups

We are not one but many, and our numbers are increasing -- clusters of women around the world praying for God's glory to be revealed. Prayer Suggestions for Lydia Groups have been prepared by Patsy Lewis, Lydia Prayer Director, to help guide you in praying for revival for yourselves, your families, neighborhoods, churches, cities, countries, and the world.

Whether groups are meeting by the riverbank, in a home, at a church, school, community center, or workplace, there is power in united prayer! Lydia Prayer Groups are not praying for small things but for a mighty outpouring of the Spirit of Jesus throughout the earth!

The main focus of the Lydia Prayer Ministry is to stand in the gap and pray for revival beginning in our own hearts and then asking Jesus to come and touch His people once again.

Lydia ladies are praying in North and South America, Africa, Europe, Australia, and Asia. “Psalm One” and “Come to the Fire” Men’s Prayer Groups have started in various places as an outgrowth of the Lydia Prayer Ministry. Groups are praying in prisons, at Sonic, and other creative locations. God is working His divine transformation as a result of united prayer. The sparks are truly igniting holy fires around the world.

Some Lydia groups meet weekly. Others meet every other week or once a month. The vision is to see multiplication. Suppose a group of five ladies meet once a month, and the leader encourages each one to form another group of five to meet at a different time during the month. The original group of five ladies might make the same suggestion to their group, and soon there are a hundred praying ladies each month rather than five. This picture means each lady is meeting twice a month, once as a participant where the prayer time is modeled, then as a leader where she is in turn models for her ladies how to lead a Lydia Group. Not every lady will be led to start a Lydia group, but many will. Even if only two or three ladies form an additional group, the prayer effort is doubled or tripled.

You are invited to be an active participant in the Lydia Prayer Movement experiencing the incredible power of united prayer! Materials have been prepared to help guide you. A Lydia Prayer Guide is available in both English and Spanish and is being translated in other languages. There are also leader’s packets, a booklet of prayer group suggestions, a prayer guide for men, and a prayer guide for students. A weekly email is sent to Lydia leaders giving a scripture focus and prayer needs. A Lydia Prayer Conference was held in February, 2008, at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island, Georgia. Women and Lydia Prayer Groups all over the world were invited to meet at this place where John and Charles Wesley began their missionary career in 1738. It was after returning to England that they both had their heartwarming experiences that started the Eighteenth century Wesleyan revival. Jesus changed history before. We believe He can to do it again! Recordings of the 2008 Lydia Prayer Conference are available, and information regarding future Prayer and Leadership Conferences will be announced at the Titus Women's Ministry web site.
